Montfort Hospital - Hopital Montfort

Fact Sheet

Montfort is an essential institution of the Franco-Ontarian community and is a full service hospital with an academic role, with the latter including the provision of clinical training in French for Francophone students and residents from the faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences of the local Universities and Colleges.

The Montfort Hospital’s Capital Redevelopment Project is vital in delivering quality health care services to the Franco-Ontarian community in the Ottawa and Eastern Ontario area, and other Francophone communities in Ontario. The Montfort Hospital’s mission is also to ensure self-sufficiency in health care for the Franco-Ontarian community by providing a clinical milieu enabling the teaching and training of an adequate number of doctors and health care professionals.

Access to Montfort by members of the Francophone community will be significantly enhanced by this major redevelopment project. This will result in enhancing Montfort’s unique role within Ottawa’s and Ontario’s health care system.

In order to fulfill our mandate and provide a full range of health services, Montfort must grow. This growth means more than expanding our facilities. We must also diversify in terms of the services we provide, attract more of the best and brightest to our ranks, add to our state-of-the-art equipment, and above all, apply the highest quality of medical and professional practices in the field today.

Our major expansion project will add over 450,000 square feet of departmental space to the existing building (more than doubling the hospital’s current size) to accommodate new programs and services. The hospital will attain a capacity of 289 acute care beds, plus 128 beds in its Long Term Care Centre. Upon completion of the construction project Montfort will have a total of 750,000 square feet of space.
