Hospital staff will do everything possible to ensure that you are comfortable and treated with dignity and compassion. During your stay, please feel free to ask questions or raise any concerns you may have.
Dietitian and nutritionist services
During your stay, you can meet with a dietitian who will evaluate your eating habits, both at home and in hospital, and make sure that your diet is meeting your particular needs. If a special diet is required, the dietitian will give you the necessary information to guide you in your food choices at home.
It is also possible that you may be seen by a nutritionist who will help you fill in your menu selections. Your food preferences and the recommendations of the nutritionist are taken into account in adjusting your hospital meals. If you are having difficulty making your menu selections, ask your nurse to contact the nutritionist for a visit.
Patients Meals
Our Nutrition department offers you balanced meals based on the Canada Food Guide. Menu requests for patients are filled two days in advance, which means that for the first two days of your stay, you might not be able to pre-select the food you will receive.
*If the doctor prescribes a special diet for you, your meals will be created accordingly. You should also let a member of your care team know if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions.
