The Family Birthing Centre (FBC) at Montfort Hospital is a model of compassion, best practices and family-centred care, and that’s why Montfort’s unique service model in the Ottawa region allows you and your family to experience the birth of your child in the safe, comfortable and reassuring setting of one room*.
One visit to the FBC’s location in Wing B (new west building) is all it takes to be swept away by the New Montfort’s humanist approach to health care. Along with its cutting-edge yet compassionate service and its relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, the FBC boasts fabulous facilities for you and your loved ones, including:
• Eighteen spacious “birthing rooms” equipped with an ultra-modern bathroom, a lounging area big enough for the entire family and large windows that surround you with natural light.
• Eleven “traditional” rooms with well-appointed bathrooms that include a spacious, easily accessible shower. In fact, because of their easy-entry showers, mothers giving birth by cesarean are assigned to these rooms, though we also use them for women who have given birth vaginally and for women either hospitalized during their pregnancy or re-hospitalized after discharge.
You and your family deserve a rewarding birth experience, secured by the best medical practices and supported by the latest technology. That’s our commitment to you. What’s more, your spouse or significant other can stay comfortably with you 24 hours a day (each room includes a chair that converts into a bed).
The Family Birthing Centre team consists of registered nurses, registered practical nurses, physicians, midwives, a lactation consultant, respiratory therapists, a social worker, a pharmacist, a nutritionist, clerks, orderlies and housekeepers. Care is provided in the official language of your choice. We promise to pool our efforts not only to make you all feel welcome and special, but also to provide you with the most positive and memorable birthing experience possible.
