Every day, health professionals in Laboratory Services perform thousands of tests to screen for disease and diagnose illness, and their work is critical to ensuring that patients receive proper treatment. They are also members of several internal and regional committees.
As a member of the Association of Regional Laboratories for Eastern Ontario, Montfort’s laboratory is an active participant in the development of the regional laboratory. It is also a member of organizations responsible for evaluating the quality of services and professional qualifications at a national level.
The laboratory performs all hematologic, microbiological, and histological analyses. It manages Montfort’s blood bank as well as the analytical equipment used throughout the hospital. It participates in infection prevention by performing various analyses to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff. The laboratory also participates in various academic and research activities.
