Message from the Chair of the Association

Though Montfort provides excellent care and uses the best practices and most advanced technology, it is so much more than a hospital. It is truly the cornerstone of an entire community.

Montfort’s history parallels the growth of the Franco-Ontarian community. From construction of the first building in the 1950s to its present-day incarnation as one of Ontario’s leading medical centres, Montfort and its community have grown together and spread their wings.

When an institution has evolved along with the community that it serves, it incorporates that community’s culture and values, which is why they are at the very heart of the New Montfort’s vision of a healing hospital.

Montfort has certainly undergone a phenomenal period of growth. However, the qualities of caring and compassion that motivated the Daughters of Wisdom to establish the hospital back in 1953 remain undiminished to this day. In fact, our President and CEO and his management team saw Montfort’s transformation as the ideal opportunity to further its vision by becoming a healing hospital.

The New Montfort provides exceptional care and services allied with a management philosophy that is a true reflection of the 21st century. Medical teams have access to the latest equipment and technology, future healthcare providers are receiving superior training in French, and scientists are carrying out research focused on the particular needs of the Franco-Ontarian population.

Those who are cared for or work at Montfort get to meet some pretty special people. Above all else, Montfort owes its stellar reputation to its staff. A heartfelt "thank you" to these dedicated and compassionate individuals just doesn’t seem good enough but it is all I can offer our doctors, healthcare professionals, employees and volunteers. As I go about performing my duties as Vice-Chair of the Association, it is your commitment to excellence that inspires me each and every day.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest thanks to Gérald Savoie, our President and CEO, for his immense dedication over the last 25 years. I would also like to express my gratitude to the members of the management team whose hard work brought the New Montfort to fruition. Finally, thank you to the members of the Board of Trustees for being so generous with your time. Your dedication is invaluable.
