The role of the Academic Affairs Department is to help Montfort fulfill its mission as a teaching and research hospital.
Montfort’s mission is to make a significant contribution towards ensuring self-sufficiency in health care for Franco-Ontarians. Consequently, teaching and research are at the very core of its identity. In order to ensure the ongoing provision of health care services in French, future health care professionals must be trained and Montfort, in cooperation with its teaching partners, is taking up this challenge.
Montfort is planning to create a research institute dedicated to improving the health and well-being of francophone minority communities where researchers working in a francophone environment will develop, apply and disseminate knowledge.
It must be recognized that Montfort is a member of the Council of Academic Hospitals of Ontario, an organization that represents the interests of 25 teaching hospitals across the province. Montfort also has major links to the Consortium national de formation en santé, the French Language Health Services Network of Eastern Ontario and the Société Santé en français.
