Telephone

If you wish to call friends or family members, you can rent a telephone for the duration of your stay.

Cellular Telephone

Please note that the use of a cellular telephone is strictly prohibited inside the building. Cellular telephones can interfere with electronic medical equipment.

Telephone Rental

When you arrive, you will be asked if you wish to have a telephone in your room during your stay. If you wish to rent a telephone before going to your room, you can stop by the Cashier’s desk (Room R-202) during office hours or pay the fee at Reception Services.

$16 (taxes included). Payable upon activation. No reimbursements.

Other Information on this Service
If you decide to rent a telephone during the course of your stay at the hospital, call the Cashier’s desk at extension 2105 during office hours or contact Reception Services at extension 2700. If your telephone needs repair, call Telecommunications Services at extension 2400.

Internal Calls
To call a service located within the hospital, dial the appropriate 4-digit extension number, for example, 9999.

Local Calls
To make an outside call, dial 9 and wait for the tone before dialling the 9-digit number, for example, 613-999-9999.

Long Distance Calls
Please note that long distance calls cannot be billed to the hospital.

Long distance calls must be made collect or billed to a third number. To make a long distance call, dial 0 to talk to an operator.

To Receive a Call
You can receive calls between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. In order to facilitate communications during your stay, give your number to family members as soon as possible. If your telephone number changes during your stay, be sure to inform your family.

Friends and family can call you by dialling the hospital’s telephone number + your extension number.

Please note

• You can interrupt the recorded message by dialling the number of the extension during the message.
• Friends and family who use a rotary telephone can dial 613-746-4621 and give your extension number to the hospital’s operator who will connect them.
