General Information for Volunteers

CONFIDENTIALITY:
All volunteers must respect the confidentiality of any information they may have access to. To this end, every volunteer must sign a confidentiality agreement.

SMOKING:
Smoking is prohibited on hospital grounds.

IDENTITY CARD:
The volunteer must wear an identity card at all times and it must be visible. All volunteers must wear this card while performing their duties and must return the card upon terminating their volunteer work.

SMOCK:
Upon joining us, every volunteer receives a smock and must provide a $10.00 deposit. The smock must be worn when on duty and the volunteer is responsible for its maintenance. Upon termination, the $10.00 deposit will be returned to the volunteer when the smock and any other item belonging to the hospital are returned.

HOURS OF WORK:
The hours of work depend on the number of hours that a volunteer is able to provide and the needs of the various departments. We recommend that volunteers perform at least one 4-hour shift per week for a minimum of four months.

DRESS CODE:
Clothing must be simple and appropriate for a hospital environment. Jeans are not permitted. Shoes must be clean, safe and in good condition.

SCENTED PRODUCTS:
Patients and staff may have allergies or may be sensitive to scented products. Consequently, perfume and other scented products are prohibited.
